The City of Gig Harbor recognizes the aesthetic, social, and ecological value of trees; however, the City has not had a program to guide the management and enhancement of its urban forest.
In January 2022, the Gig Harbor City Council prioritized urban forestry through the adoption of an Urban Forestry Management Plan (UFMP) within its City of Gig Harbor Two-Year Strategic Plan 2022-2023. Urban forestry is the planting, maintenance, care, and protection of tree populations within urban settings. It requires a different type of planning and strategy than traditional forestry or silviculture.
One critical element in developing the UFMP is public outreach - and we want to hear from you! Take the Urban Forestry Management Plan Public Outreach Survey now and let your voice be heard. The online survey will be available through March 30.
