The proposal is a non-project, legislative action to develop regulations around short-term rentals. The City of Gig Harbor does not have any specific regulations for short-term rentals. Under current code, the use is most closely associated with Lodging, Level 1, but the definition is not precise enough to provide the necessary regulatory provisions. Because of this, and because the City has seen an uptick in the number of short-term rentals within the City Limits, the City Council chose to adopt a moratorium on the acceptance of any new Lodging, Level 1 permit applications until the City has had more time to study the issue and potentially put sufficient regulations in place.
After review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with the agency, the City of Gig Harbor has determined the above proposal, will not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment.
