On the 22nd of July, 2019, the City Council of the City of Gig Harbor, passed Ordinance No. 1421, the main point of which may be summarized by its title as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GIG HARBOR, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO THE CITY’S ANIMAL CODE; AMENDING TITLE 6 OF THE GIG HARBOR MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE RCW 16.52.340 RELATING TO LEAVING AN ANIMAL UNATTENDED IN A MOTOR VEHCILE OR ENCLOSED SPACE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
