Boards & Commissions


There are many opportunities to take an active role in your local government. The City of Gig Harbor has seven citizen boards and commissions on which residents help shape the future of our community by serving, in an advisory capacity, to the Gig Harbor City Council.

Person's interested in serving on our Boards and Commissions may submit an application to Molly Towslee at  Current openings will be posted below.  If there are no current openings, applications will be kept on file and reviewed at the time of an opening.

Planning Commission

The City is seeking citizens interested in serving on the Gig Harbor Planning Commission. The position is strictly voluntary.  Commissioners must live within the Urban Growth Area. The Commission provides guidance and recommendations to the City Council on comprehensive land-use planning matters. Submit your application by May 31, 2018 to Molly Towslee at 

Building Code Advisory Balary Commission

The City is seeking two architects and one engineer to fill a vacancy on the Gig Harbor Building Code Advisory Board.  The position is strictly voluntary and serves the remainder of a four-year term ending March 2021. The BCAB holds open public hearings and makes final decisions on appeals of administrative determinations where alternate methods of construction are proposed.
