The City of Gig Harbor Wastewater Treatment Plant treats millions of gallons of wastewater each year and provides service to approximately 6800 Gig Harbor residents. The City of Gig Harbor wastewater collection system, maintained by the treatment plant staff, consists of 45 miles of sanitary sewer lines, and 17 lift stations.
The wastewater that leaves your homes through sinks, showers, and toilets, flows through collection system lines to lift-stations. Each lift-station contains a pumping system which pumps the wastewater to the Gig Harbor Wastewater Treatment Plant where it is treated and released into Gig Harbor bay. The Gig Harbor Wastewater Treatment Plant adheres to strict Department of Ecology policies, standards and limitations before releasing the treated effluent to the bay.
