letters of interest from people who care passionately about Gig Harbor and
its historic downtown to form an advisory committee to make recommendations
on the economic future of Gig Harbor's Downtown business environment.

ATTENTION
BIDDERS:
The City of Gig Harbor will soon be requesting bids on
the Canterwood Boulevard widening project. This project will include
re-grading and widening the road between the soon-to-be-constructed St.
Anthony’s Hospital and the roundabout at Borgen Boulevard. It will also
include excavation for and installation of a fish-friendly culvert and a
storm water vault; construction of retaining walls; and a directional bore
under the adjacent freeway. We encourage you to bid on this project. Bid
advertisement is expected in the first week of June, and bid opening is will
be on or around June 23rd, 2008. Construction will begin in
early August. There is a “fish window” for the culvert installation. The
public has been notified that the road will be closed for construction.

NOTICE
OF PUBLIC MEETINGS: HARBORVIEW / JUDSON STREET IMPROVEMENTS
The City of Gig Harbor will begin design and
engineering for road, pedestrian, and utility improvements on Judson Street
and Harborview Drive. Construction of these improvements is
anticipated to occur in 2009. The City seeks public input and
participation throughout the conceptual design process. A series of
public meetings will be held between now and the end of the summer. All of these meetings are open to the

GIG HARBOR DESIGN REVIEW
BOARD
Mayor Chuck Hunter is issuing a call for interest in serving on the Design
Review Board. Applicants must possess qualifications, skills or
demonstrated knowledge of urban design or historic preservation and must be
able to demonstrate the ability to read and interpret site plans and
elevation drawings. One position will be filled by a city resident with a
professional background relating to urban design, (e.g., a professional
artist, civil engineer, planner, building contractor or professional
designer) as determined by the city council. The Design Review Board
interprets, reviews and implements design review as provided by the City’s
adopted design manual and may also make recommendations on other issues
pertaining to urban design in the Gig Harbor area. Persons interested in
serving on the Design Review Board must submit a letter of interest and
completed application to the Mayor, 3510 Grandview Street, Gig Harbor, WA
98335. The application is available at the Civic Center or you can download
at this link:
Application Form. The position is strictly volunteer and is not subject
to compensation by the City. The deadline for submitting letters of
interest is Tuesday, May 20, 2008.
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS - 2008 Water
Main Replacement Project

The City of Gig
Harbor requests sealed price quotation proposals for the 2008 Water Main
Replacement Project. This contract generally provides for the placement of
approximately 1,400 linear feet of 8” ductile iron water main pipe between
two separate bid schedules and shall include connection of existing water
services to the new main, trench restoration, pressure testing, abandonment
of existing asbestos cement piping, roadway patching, and other work, all in
accordance with the attached Contract Plans, these Special Provisions, and
the Standard Specifications.
Project documents may be reviewed at the City of Gig Harbor, Engineering
Division, 3510 Grandview Street, Gig Harbor, Washington 98335. Contract
Documents, including plans, specifications, and quotation proposal form, may
be picked up at the City of Gig Harbor upon receipt of a $25.00
non-refundable payment. Telephone inquiries regarding the project may be
directed to the Engineering Department at the City of Gig Harbor at (253)
851‑6170.
Sealed price
quotation proposals will be received only at the City of Gig Harbor Civic
Center, 3510 Grandview Street, Gig Harbor, Washington, 98335, no later
than 9:00 a.m., on May 22, 2008, and will then and there be publicly
read aloud. Price quotation proposals received after the time fixed for
opening will not be considered.
All bid
proposals shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in cash, certified
check, cashier’s check, or surety bond in an amount equal to five percent
(5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. Should the successful bidder fail
to enter into such contract and furnish a satisfactory performance bond
within the time stated in the contract documents, the bid proposal deposit
shall be forfeited to the City of Gig Harbor.
The City of Gig Harbor reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to
select one or more, or no additive alternates, and to waive minor
irregularities in the bidding process.
No bidder may withdraw their bid proposal after the time fixed for opening
thereof, or before award of contract, unless said award is delayed for a
period exceeding thirty (30) days.
