Gig Harbor Arts Commission,

in partnership with Artist Trust, hosts:

 “How to” Workshop for Artists

The Gig Harbor Arts Commission invites artists who work in any medium to a March 30th workshop on How to respond to a Call for Art / How to apply for an Artist Grant. The free workshop is presented in collaboration with Artist Trust.

Join Artist Trust grant recipient Nicholas Nyland and Artist Trust’s artist liaison Katy Hannigan for an informative session about funding opportunities, the ins and outs of applying for grants and responding to Calls for Art, and how to make your next application stand out.

According to Hannigan, the processes for applying for grants and responding to Calls for Art share similar guidelines and techniques. Hannigan will discuss specifics of applying for grants; Nyland will share tips on his successful grant applications.

Arts Commissioners will also be available to discuss what they look for when they select artists for public art projects.  “Public art projects aren’t limited to three-dimensional, sculpture pieces,” Arts Commission chair Charlee Glock-Jackson said. “Often the projects are appropriate for painters, mural artists and artists working in other mediums.”

The workshop takes place Thursday, March 30th, 5:30-7pm at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview Street. The workshop is free, but reservations are requested. To RSVP email Molly Towslee:  towsleem@cityofgigharbor.net
