Education: Bachelor of
Science, Mechanical Engineering, University of
Washington, 1989
Occupation: Mechanical
Engineer, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Professional
Qualifications: For 20 years I was a
commercial fisherman owning my own gillnetter
for about 10 years. At Puget Sound Naval
Shipyard, I’ve served from being a Outside
Machinery Mechanic in the 80s to the last 17
years as an engineer.
Personal Information:
I am one of Gig Harbor’s native sons. I grew up
here and attended Harbor Heights Elementary,
Goodman Junior High and graduated from Peninsula
High School. I have been married to Barbara for
the past 17 years. I have a married son Matthew.
I am a Vietnam Veteran.
Community Involvement:
Served as chair of the Gig Harbor Parks
Commission (2006-07), Skansie Park Ad Hoc
committee, site coordinator for the new Estuary
Park for Parks Appreciation Day. In the past, I
was a City Councilman (1976-1980).
Personal Views: The
issues facing Gig Harbor have become quite
complex in recent years. I have voiced both
support and opposition on many issues involving
development and growth throughout our town. I
like what the current council has done to manage
the pressures of change but I feel the rate of
change can be too much at times. I can be a team
player with the existing council and bring my
own ideas to the chambers. We need a council
that responds to both short and long- term
opportunities. We look to the city for great
services and for the protection and preservation
of our unique environment. I will always look
for fresh, innovative approaches to solve the
problems our community will encounter without
serving any special interests.
