e-mail me Jim Franich - City Council

Education:  Peninsula High School, Pierce College, University of Puget Sound.

Occupation:
President, Bay City Motors Inc. since 1993.

Professional Qualifications:
Management and operations of local business.  Manager of residential properties.

Personal Information:
Third generation, lifelong resident of Gig Harbor.  Commercial fisherman 13 years.

Community Involvement:
Served as board member in the creation of Gig Harbor's Design Review Manual.  Many years of attending and testifying at City Planning and Council meetings.  Regular contact with State and Federal representatives.  Supporter of the Gig Harbor Fishermen's Civic Club.

Personal Views:  Gig Harbor is approaching a critical crossroads.  Land use rulings, shoreline management and comprehensive plan decisions all effect a fragile balance.  Balancing the desire for services and the desire to maintain our unique quality of life is something that needs to be watched very closely.  I will do my best to preserve Gig Harbor's "livability" and make it one of my top priorities.  When the scale is swayed by Council decisions, let it sway toward responsible development that preserves the heritage and quality of life that we've been fortunate enough to enjoy in Gig Harbor.  I will work to involve the citizens in every decision I make on the City Council and I look forward to hearing from you.  I welcome your comments.
