Welcome to the Active Projects page for the Planning Department.  Below you will find information on current land use permits for construction projects and information on our long-range planning activities.

One Harbor Point Development Agreement

The Ben B. Cheney Foundation and Neil Walter Company are proposing a Development Agreement per the provisions of the Gig Harbor Municipal Code to allow the One Harbor Point residential development at the intersection of Harborview and Soundview Drives in Gig Harbor, Washington.  Three separate sites are associated with the proposal.  These include the triangular-shaped upland parcel, the waterfront parcel currently developed with the Green Turtle Restaurant, and the Boat Barn parcel abutting it on the north. 

Long Range Planning

The development of appropriate land use regulations and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan.                                                                                                                                                                 

2016 Annual Comprehensive Plan Amendments

The Growth Management Act (GMA) authorizes the City to amend the Comprehensive Plan on an annual basis. The City Council on January 25th, 2016 moved three applications forward for the Planning Commission consideration. The Planning Commission has held public hearings on the three applications and intends to wrap up their final recommendation during the September 15th work study meeting.

NPDES - LID Phase II Code Amendments

The Planning Department and Engineering Department have been working together to address the requirements of the NPDES Phase II permit issued by the Department of Ecology. The project website is hosted by Public Works/Engineering Department and can be found by following the link above.

The Harbor - Zones and Uses Analysis

The Planning Commission has made initial considerations for amendments to the Zones and Uses of The Harbor. These proposals are for consideration at the May 19th Open House and Public Hearing, you can review the proposals on the project website. After the Public Hearing the Commission requested that Council direct the Commission to 'pause' the analysis of the zones and uses until the 2017

Cottage Housing Code Development

The Planning Commission held a public hearing on February 18, 2016 at 6pm to solicit community feedback on a city-sponsored zoning code text amendment. Marijuana Related Uses

Under Ordinance No. 1323 the City of Gig Harbor enacted a ban on all Marijuana Related Uses.
