Ancich Waterfront Park Construction Update 2-15-18

ANCICH PARK AND NETSHED REHABILITATION PROJECT

PROJECT UPDATE 2/15/18

Work in Progress:

The City’s contractor, Quigg Brothers Construction, has been busy with the Ancich Park and Netshed Rehabilitation Project. The net shed has been relocated onto a barge that will remain on site while it is being rehabilitated. Quigg’s carpentry crew and the City’s engineering team have been surveying the structure to determine what siding and framing timbers can be salvaged and re-used. Original materials will be used when possible.

Demolition of the Ancich Pier and selective demolition of the Jerkovich Pier has been completed. Pile driving for the new piers is complete.

Installation of the new precast seawall is mostly complete. Excavation and construction for the site retaining walls and wing walls will continue over the next couple weeks.

Relocation of the Harborview Drive sewer main complete. This allows for the installation of temporary shoring walls and excavation for the future building. Drilling for temporary shoring piles will begin Monday, February 19th.

Impacts to the Public:

Pedestrian Detour Route

Quigg has closed the parking stalls and sidewalk directly adjacent to the site for the duration of the project. Pedestrian foot traffic is no longer permitted to use the sidewalk directly in front of the site. However, a pedestrian detour is established. The pedestrian route shifts foot traffic from the sidewalk on the north side of Harborview Drive to the sidewalk on the south side of Harborview drive, from Harborview/Stinson to Harborview/Novak. There are established pedestrian crossings in both locations. A temporary rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) is installed at the Harborview/Stinson crosswalk.

Harborview Drive Impacts

The Harborview Drive lane shift remains in place. Due to the need to drill for temporary shoring piles, it is anticipated that Harborview Drive will be reduced to a one lane, 2-way configuration with flaggers for from Monday, February 19th through Friday, February 23rd. Please expect delays and use alternate route as necessary. Thank you for your patience. Please use caution, trucks are currently entering/leaving the site hauling excavation material. There will be access to all businesses and residents for the duration of the project.

Noise Impacts

Some of the excavation for the new sea wall footings will need to be performed during the low tide cycle. During this time of the year the low tide cycles are at night or in the early morning so the City is anticipating some night work to occur. During this work, you may experience construction noise such as engine noise from excavation equipment, and back-up alarms. When the City knows the exact dates of this night work, we will inform the public of the dates and times.

Thank you for your understanding.

Remaining Work and Timelines:

February- Completion and placement of sea walls, fabrication/construction of Ancich and Jerkovich piers, netshed rehabilitation, placement of soldier pile wall at roadway, excavation for site retaining walls and building.
