COVID-19 UTILITY RESPONSE
The City of Gig Harbor is taking the following steps to provide utility relief during the COVID-19 emergency:
• Water will not be disconnected for non-payment for any customer during the emergency.
• All interest and late fees on delinquent payments have been suspended.
• Long term payment arrangements will be offered upon the expiration of the
emergency proclamation. More details will be provided as soon as information is available.
Services will continue to be billed and accrued at current rates. We do encourage regular payment of monthly charges as the balances will continue to accrue.
Governor Inslee has issued Proclamation 20-23, pertaining to Utility Ratepayer Assistance and Preservation of Essential Services. The City of Gig Harbor is committed to keeping our customers connected to essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency. If you are experiencing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for support, including long-term payment arrangements or bill assistance. This Proclamation does not relieve customers from the obligation to pay for utility services.
NEW! Pierce County Rental and Utility Assistance Program
Pierce County Human Services and the City of Tacoma have received funding for rental and utility assistance for tenants impacted by COVID-19 and behind on rent.
The purpose of the Rental Assistance program is to prevent eviction for Pierce County residents (including those living in the City of Tacoma) impacted by COVID-19 who are behind on rent. Applicants must qualify as low-income at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI), but priority will be given to those under 50% AMI. Assistance with utilities, garbage and internet is also available for those behind on payments.
